Below you will find new sewing groups, a few new quilt guilds and our favorite links to free patterns and block ideas. If you can’t find something your interested in, please call us and we will surely help you get the information you are looking for.

Fundamental and Technique Classes

Beginning Quilting                        

Teacher: Catherine Melvin
Cost:      $60
When:    These classes are held on four consecutive Tuesdays at 9am, 1pm or 6pm.  Please call the shop to schedule.

Get ready to unleash you inner quilting Diva! This class is for the new quilter and will teach you pattern and fabric selection, quilting terms, tools used and basic blocks used in quilting. Once you start, you'll have a hobby for a lifetime. Workbook included. This is a four week class with a minimum of eight hours of instruction. 

Binding or Scalloped Binding            

Teacher: Your Choice
Cost:      $10

Just as a frame finishes the picture, so the binding finishes the quilt. In this class we will show you how simple it is to bind your quilt for a fabulous finish to your quilted treasure. Scalloped bindings lend elegance to any quilt. A few simple steps and you've got a finish worth bragging about! Call to arrange your personal class.

Long Arm Quilting                             

Teacher: Karen Benke
Cost:     $60
When:    By Appointment Only, please call the shop to schedule. 

Karen will teach the “care and feeding” on the long arm machine, how to mount your quilt and basic machine quilting. Two class sessions, two hours beginning instruction and one hour practice on your own project.

EQ Club Free
Teacher: KC Howell
3rd Friday of each month, 1pm

If you own Electric Quilt but haven't used it, then you will become the designer extraordinaire! You must own EQ and if you have a laptop you can bring it for use during class. If not, just watch the demos, take notes and try the steps at home!

Machine Embroidery Club
Cost:       Free
When:     4th Thursday of each month, 10 am

If you own an Embroidery Machine you will want to join this discussion and demonstration group.  You do not need to bring your machine to these sessions.

I Like Mine with Lettuce &Tomato Free
Every Monday, 10am-5pm

Join us every Monday to sew whatever you wish. The shop staff will be available to help you if needed. We break at lunchtime for a salad luncheon. Little Red Quilt House provides the lettuce – please bring a topping to share!

Quilts of Comfort
2nd and 4th Fridays of the month, 9 a.m. to noon

This group is currently working on T-Shirt dresses for children in Haiti.

Fire House Quilters (A Guild with a Purpose)
2nd Tuesday of the month, 10am

Visitors are always welcome to stop in and see what this guild is all about and join if they like what they see! This guild meets at the Medina Presbyterian Church, 5020 Burgundy Bay Blvd.

Loose Thread Machine Quilters Guild
4th Wednesday of each month, 6:30 pm

The focus of this guild is to promote machine quilting and teach techniques to improve your skills. Visitors are welcome and membership is open if you care to join the guild.

Proverbs 31 Women's Group

Fabric has been donated to the shop – you provide the time and talent. We have quilt kits ready to go and you may work on them at home. We always need help with quilting and binding the tops that have been made by the ladies. Ask any staff member how you can help this ongoing project.  Organizer for this group is Jan Codney.

Moda Fabric and United Notions Free Patterns
Please feel free to download any of the free patterns offered by Moda and United Notions. Then bring them in to the shop for fabric and help needed to make the quilt.
I love to find new ways to use up leftovers. This site has several ideas on just how to do that. Make a great quilt using what you have on hand and add a border and backing to make a great quilt!
